Sunday Lunch

July 27, 2015

If your mummy is anything like mine and has made the kitchen a no go zone on Sunday afternoon, you are probably more often than not faced with the dilemma of figuring out decent, fun and kids friendly restaurants to hang out. The key word here being kids friendly-read ample play area preferably in an outdoor set up with lush gardens. Although some enclosed restaurants have actually outdone themselves as we will be discovering in the coming weeks and we shall therefore not restrict kids friendly to an outdoor setup.

Having driven around aimlessly for about 20 minutes torn between heading towards Ngong Road, James Gichuru Road or Kiambu Road, we found ourselves at Purdy Arms in Karen, thanks to some great reviews on EatOut. The restaurant sits on extensive land (22 acres actually!) in a quiet, serene location at the junction of Marula Lane and Mbagathi Ridge.

I particularly liked going up and across this bridge which had a slide on one end and was surrounded by bamboo trees that gave this play area a forest kind of feel. Other play equipment included two bouncing castles, one that gave an ocean vibe which I found so cool and the other a jungle vibe. The food was delectable! We indulged in the buffet which was mainly Indian cuisine. For those who are not into spicy food, they can settle for the a la carte menu or the kid’s buffet which had fries, sausages, roast chicken and salad.

Next time you are looking for a Sunday Lunch plan, if you haven’t already, give Purdy Arms a try!

Hugs and kisses.
