And the winner is..
After sending out a plea for help to you guys a few days ago, the responses I got were overwhelming (as seen here)! Honestly I didn’t expect that many replies, although some of you chose not to follow the rules and made their submissions on Facebook and Instagram. Kenyan’s will always be Kenyans, lol 🙂
I’m happy to announce that we got ourselves a name. To win, you were required to suggest a name and give its meaning as well. You guys went all out and I cannot thank you enough. In fact, if I was to get another sibling, next time a brother hopefully (there are not enough boys even in my extended family), I will just refer to the previous post for a name.
The names that really stood out for me were Xia and Xania. Funny thing, mummy had the name Xia in mind all along but was just keeping her options open. One of you suggested it, and explained that it meant welcoming (Greek origin) which I was actually not aware of. That’s actually quite similar to my name’s meaning. I had the Chinese version in mind, which means “Glow of the sunrise”. That pretty much signifies a new beginning for our family, which is what this baby will bring. I could therefore not think of a more relevant name! On the other hand, Xania has a nice ring to it, but unfortunately the person who suggested it did not give its meaning. I took to google (again what would we do without google) and found out that people with this name are persistent and poses leadership abilities.
For now, Xia scores more points over Xania. For proposing it and most importantly fully observing the rules, Rachael Ombaka is our winner!!!! She wins herself a 24 piece stainless steel cutlery gift set from Mr Price Home worth Ksh 6,000.
Thank you so much to all those who participated. I hope you enjoy the photos below. They represent my journey from when I was weeks old to the point I joined school at 2 years and 3 months.
Hugs and Kisses,
