Normally, on this platform, Xena aka Lil’missbelle tells the story and I am just an aid who puts her thoughts and words to paper, but bear with me today as I veer from the norm and share with you something which I feel very proud of.
Seems like just the other day when the idea of starting a Children’s Lifestyle & Fashion blog crossed hubby’s mind and when he shared it with me, I was sold, hook line and sinker. He had the concept and this grand plan all figured out, but for the life of him, he could not make time to put together blog posts on a regular basis as he already has a lot on his plate. For a moment, we considered getting a professional blogger to actualize the idea given that both of us are in the corporate world and well, at two years and eight months, Xena was not anywhere close to writing her stories.
I however decided to take up the challenge and see how far I would go with it. After all, as an Equities Research Analyst, my work involves loads of research, analysis and writing, albeit on a totally different subject of investments. Four months later, I can undoubtedly say that this has been the best decision I made this year. How I have managed to juggle my full time job, pregnancy and a children’s blog is beyond me and I am grateful to God for that.
Funny thing though, we expected the social media pages and the website to go viral immediately we put them up. Surely, the whole world must somehow find out about this cute little fashionista, drop everything they have been obsessing about in the past and start following the new kid on the block! Alas, that was not the case. Ok I know I am exaggerating but you get the drift. I must mention though that the very first post, a travel feature on Medina Palms, received immense interest and loads of comments (which sadly disappeared when we upgraded the website 🙁 ). So far, I have learnt that it takes active networking within the social media circles to become visible and see growth in numbers, especially from people that are genuinely interested in what you have to offer. I have also learnt that proper research and planning is paramount in creating content that will keep your fans interested. I have learnt loads of lessons along the way, so much so I may be inspired to put up a post on Blogging 101 later on in the year. Certainly, I am no guru in an area I just picked up less than five months ago but I definitely have learnt enough key lessons to share with my readers.
As Lil’missbelle turns five months, we would like to appreciate all those who have supported us by giving great advice, partnering with us, spreading the word and most importantly being ardent fans. We celebrate the 3,000+ Instagram followers, 8,000+ Facebook followers and the very loyal readers (you know yourselves!) who will not miss a feature on the website, leading to an average 5,000+ monthly page views. Thank you so much guys and don’t forget to subscribe from the right hand side of this page to immediately get notified every time a new post is up. Lil’missbelle has so much in store for you!
