50 Days of Kenyan Kids Fashion-Day 8

When I first started blogging about kids fashion, I was mostly inspired by London Scout, a then three year old mini blogger with the most unique and inspiring fashion sense ever. I was always tempted to steal her looks and could not wait to see what outfit her mom was going to pair next. The sad bit however was the fact that every time I came across an ensemble or a refreshing look I wanted to try on my daughter, I would almost always not be able to find the outfits locally. This was quite frustrating to say the least. Sometimes I would buy the stuff online from the UK and USA but I totally lacked the patience to wait for a couple of months for delivery. So when I traveled to SA in March I shopped till I dropped. I remember one particular day when I hit the mall right after breakfast at 9.00am and disappeared in the H&M outlet at the Waterfront Mall until 3.00pm. A whole day literally spent shopping in one store!

For this reason, I am always on the prowl for local kids stores with a unique offering hopefully that someday I can be able to dress my kids in every single item I dream of without having to deal with long waiting periods or waiting to travel and shop a storm. So you can imagine my excitement when I came across Onceuponachild from some of their light box advertisements on my way home. I quickly browsed their site when I got home and right there, staring at me, was this dreamy black glittery tutu dress with ruffle detail, almost similar to one I had seen London Scout rock so elegantly, as well as North West. I was hoping to get a similar one for the baby sister (Xia) but unfortunately it was only available in Xena’s size, 2-3. However, the site has a variety of unique outfits for kids and I was lucky to find this gorgeous blue tutu skirt for Xia. While it was slightly big, I still went ahead and got it because I know she will grow into it and outgrow it very soon. There’s so much more that I discovered on the store’s website and I can’t wait to share with you the photos in bits of course 🙂

In the meantime, why don’t you check out the website and see what tickles your fancy. Thing is, they only buy a few sizes per design because we all know how annoying it is to show up at an event with this timeless piece only to spot another person in a similar outfit. The store is purely online but very easy and convenient to shop from.
Happy shopping and wishing you a blessed and productive week.
Love, Joy and Xena.

She might ask for a Fairy-tale themed birthday. (great reason to dress up too)
And the whole shopping day, I feel you, Like a kid in a candy store!
Great idea Jay, great idea. May just adopt that for her birthday theme next month!

Your girls are adorable. I’m absolutely clueless about fashion. Especially kids fashion. So your blog opens my eyes to the possibilities. Great job mama Xena.
